Monday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Jonah 1:1-2:2, 11; John 2:3-5,8; Luke 10:25-37

called
to speak
we run
from His words
wreaking havoc
on all those around us
until left
in darkness
we cry out
and are heard
prophetic words
are spoken
prophetic deeds
are done
we are filled
with compassion
helping those in need
opening the door
to God’s light
and love

Do you run from you calling?
Who answers when you cry out for help?

Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Habakkuk 1:2-4; Ps: 1-2,6-7, 8-9; 2Timothy 1:6-14; Luke 17: 5-10

we pray for
an increase
in our faith
as violence
swirls around us
oppresses us
we feel
God’s absence
in raging wars
deception
and deceit
we long to hear
God’s voice
that our hearts may
not be hardened

stir the flame
that is God
in our heart
that strength
and love
and wisdom
may bear
the hardships
of war
and violence
and evil
not stealing
His peace
through the spirit of love
doing the work
that needs
to be done

for the vision
still has its time
pressing on
to fulfillment
we will not
be disappointed-
in patience
we wait

Does  your hearts cry for violence in hardship?
What stills you with the voice of peace?
Can you wait in your faith for God’s fulfillment?

Tuesday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Zec 8:20-23; Psalm 87:1-7; Luke 9:51-56

the living God
with us
within us
we follow
turning from death
to life
embracing all
the Holy Spirit offers
with compassion
love
joy
peace
kindness
generosity
patience
self-control
gentleness
even as we face
terror, sickness and darkness
we are strengthened
with the light
of God’s courage

How do you embrace the living God?
How do you follow?
