Wednesday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Romans 2:1-11; Psalm 62:2-9; Luke 11:42-46

hard burdens
imposed
on us
we seek
the refuge
of God
where
our soul
is at rest
in God’s
priceless kindness
forbearance
and patience
we live
in God’s mercy
that melts
our stubborn
impenitent
heart
and we overflow
with good works
that are moved
by our faith
in God’s love

Do you seek refuge in God?
Do you experience God’s mercy?

Tuesday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Romans 1:16-25; Psalm 19:2-5; Luke 11:37-41

a wrath
we cannot
acknowledge
or bear to see
knowing only
the injustice
of our own
yet it bears
upon us
in our idolatry
a stranger
to our creator
in our worship
of our own creations
doing violence
to each other
in our lack
not knowing
our need
until God’s presence comes
to show us
our way
a door is opened
into the Light
of God’s glory
residing in all
as Love
that gives alms

How do you experience the wrath of God?
How do you respond?

Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Kings 5: 14-17; Ps 98: 1-4; 2 Timothy 2: 8-13; Luke 17: 11-19

listening
to God’s word
and dipping into
God’s flowing waters
we are healed-
seeing ourselves
cleansed
we return
in thanks
blessed with faith
we hold onto His
new life
from death
eager for
the reign
of peace
and the saving power
of love
a song of joy
and praise
breaks
from our lips
at the sight
of His justice
revealed
His kindness
and faithfulness
remembered

Do you let Him heal your wounds?
Are you grateful for His healing words?
Do you recognize His justice as love for all?

Friday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

JL 1:13-15-2:1-2; Psalm 9:2-3,6,8,9; Luke 11:15-26

a kingdom
divided
will not stand
so we live
in the undivided heart
singular
in our devotion
to the One
who brings us
Truth
Goodness
and Love
giving thanks
each moment
for the protection
God brings
from our doubts
and confliction
temptation
and fear
with one sweeping gesture
His Light
of clarity
dawns
and we are free

Do you live with an undivided heart?

Monday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Jonah 1:1-2:2, 11; John 2:3-5,8; Luke 10:25-37

called
to speak
we run
from His words
wreaking havoc
on all those around us
until left
in darkness
we cry out
and are heard
prophetic words
are spoken
prophetic deeds
are done
we are filled
with compassion
helping those in need
opening the door
to God’s light
and love

Do you run from you calling?
Who answers when you cry out for help?
