Luke 9:18-22

Then
Jesus said
to them
Who
do you
say I am?

Hg 1:1-8; Psalm 149: 1-9; Luke 9:7-9

the Lord
takes
delight
in his people
let us sing
and dance
and praise
for the time
has come
to rebuild
the church
with joy
and show
God’s love
for all

Where is God’s church?

Ezra 9:5-9; Tobit 13:2-8; Luke 9: 1-6

we take
nothing
for the journey
but
God’s love
and faith
in the footsteps
that have
gone before
accepting
hospitality
shaking off the dust
of unwelcome
we walk
humbly
always
in the mercy
that has been
shown us
ever mindful
of our need
of God’s wisdom
and strength

Are you mindful of your need for God’s wisdom and strength?

Eph 4:1-7,11-13 Psalm 19:2-3-5; Matthew 9:9-13

to those
who are lost
in cynicism
and despair
selfishness
or greed
he calls us back
to our unity
our wholeness
in God
and with
each other
to live
worthy
of his calling
in gentleness
patience
love
and peace
in awe
of who we are
in God
and with
humility

Are you in awe of who we are?

Wisdom 2:12, 17-20; Psalm 54:3-8; James 3: 16-4:3; Mark 9:30-37

our hearts exposed
you read us
and know
our murderous quests
our jealousy
and strife
so far from wisdom
we climb over
one another
to test
with revilement
and torture
we quarrel
and fight
so far
from our hearts desire
to love
if only
we were to ask rightly
wisdom would come
and uphold our lives
with peace
and mercy
and sympathy
leniency
and kindly deeds
leaving war behind
a child raised up
we welcome the innocence
see this new life
and seek to serve
the love
that has been
freely given

Do you dare ask rightly and enter wisdom?
Do you see the love you are to serve?

1Tm 6:13-16; Psalm 100:1-5;Luke 8:4-15

his seed
sown
freely
we prepare
the soil
that His word
may take root
and not be
snatched away
or fall on
rocky ground
nor be choked
by thorns
of the worlds
anxieties
but grow
towards His light
manifesting
the fruit
of God’s love
where our joy
is complete

Have you prepared the soil of your heart for God’s love?

1Tm 6:2c-12; Psalm 49:6-20; Luke 8:1-3

trusting
in financial
wealth
we are
blinded
and led
astray
from
God’s wealth
and abundance
that comes
from
devotion
faith
love
patience
gentleness
a righteousness
from which
all else
flows…
our daily bread

On what wealth do you depend?

1Tm 4:12-16; Psalm 111:7-10; Luke 7: 36-50

at his feet
we see a path
a way
and put
our faith there
forgiven much
we love much
ever grateful
of the gift
given
and do not
neglect it
absorbed
in His word
we act on it
saving ourselves
and those
who will listen

What is the gift you have been given?
Do you neglect the gift you have been given?

1Tim 3:14-16; Psalm 111: 1-6; Luke 7:31-35

never
satisfied
we voice
our complaints
unfulfilled
expectations
as we seek
to be served
rather than serve
until
we are touched
by a divine love
that calls us out
into something
much greater
a wisdom
inspiring
devotion
and gratitude
in the Presence
of the great mystery
and justice
of God’s love

Has God changed your expectations?

Memorial of Our Lady Of Sorrows
1 Tim3:1-13; Psalm 101:1-6; Luke 2:33-55

mother
of sorrows
we see you
at the cross
and enter
your anguish
as we see
the world’s sins
put upon him
contrite
of any
complicity
we turn
ourselves
over to
the love
we see
and enter
your “yes”
where our intention
meets God’s will
and divine love
is born

Where do you go with your sorrow?
