Romans 1:16-25; Psalm 19:2-5; Luke 11:37-41

a wrath
we cannot
acknowledge
or bear to see
knowing only
the injustice
of our own
yet it bears
upon us
in our idolatry
a stranger
to our creator
in our worship
of our own creations
doing violence
to each other
in our lack
not knowing
our need
until God’s presence comes
to show us
our way
a door is opened
into the Light
of God’s glory
residing in all
as Love
that gives alms

How do you experience the wrath of God?
How do you respond?

Romans 1:1-7; Psalm 98:1-4; Luke 11:29-32

no sign given
only faith
that we will see
the goodness
of the Lord
that our song
will be heard
that salvation
will be known
we will not lose
the gift given
even as death
draws near
we rejoice
in God’s eternal Love

How do you hold on to your gift of faith?

Kings 5: 14-17; Ps 98: 1-4; 2 Timothy 2: 8-13; Luke 17: 11-19

listening
to God’s word
and dipping into
God’s flowing waters
we are healed-
seeing ourselves
cleansed
we return
in thanks
blessed with faith
we hold onto His
new life
from death
eager for
the reign
of peace
and the saving power
of love
a song of joy
and praise
breaks
from our lips
at the sight
of His justice
revealed
His kindness
and faithfulness
remembered

Do you let Him heal your wounds?
Are you grateful for His healing words?
Do you recognize His justice as love for all?

JL 4:12-21; Psalm 97: 1-12; Luke 11:27-28

we are blessed
to hear
God’s word
knowing God
is near
it is as a Light
dawning
in our hearts
easing our darkness
sorrow
and sin
we rejoice in
our God of Love
and give thanks
every minute
of every day
for His Presence

Do you feel God’s light dawning in your heart?

JL 1:13-15-2:1-2; Psalm 9:2-3,6,8,9; Luke 11:15-26

a kingdom
divided
will not stand
so we live
in the undivided heart
singular
in our devotion
to the One
who brings us
Truth
Goodness
and Love
giving thanks
each moment
for the protection
God brings
from our doubts
and confliction
temptation
and fear
with one sweeping gesture
His Light
of clarity
dawns
and we are free

Do you live with an undivided heart?

Luke 11:5-14

asking
we receive
seeking
we find
all that we need
from God’s Holy Spirit
given
freely
for our benefit
and the good
of all
persistent
in prayer
we see
a way
for peace
and love
healing
and forgiveness
in a desperate
world

Do you ask?
Do you seek?
Do you find?

Jonah 4:1-11; Psalm 86:8-10; Luke 11:1-4

our daily
bread
your will
among us
as we
experience
your mercy
and kindness
and give
what is
given
listening
to prophets
we change
our ways
we see
your city
healed
as your love
unfolds
and give thanks

Do you hear the voice of the prophets?

Jonah 3:1-10; Psalm 130:1-8; Luke 10:38-42

called
to change
we sit
at the feet
of Truth
and Wisdom
leaving
our anxiety
and worry
to hear
the voice
of Love
answering
our cry
for help
with words
that bring
Hope
new Life
and Peace

Are you willing to change?
Do you dare leave your anxiety and worry?
Do you sit at the feet of Wisdom and Truth?

Jonah 1:1-2:2, 11; John 2:3-5,8; Luke 10:25-37

called
to speak
we run
from His words
wreaking havoc
on all those around us
until left
in darkness
we cry out
and are heard
prophetic words
are spoken
prophetic deeds
are done
we are filled
with compassion
helping those in need
opening the door
to God’s light
and love

Do you run from you calling?
Who answers when you cry out for help?

Habakkuk 1:2-4; Ps: 1-2,6-7, 8-9; 2Timothy 1:6-14; Luke 17: 5-10

we pray for
an increase
in our faith
as violence
swirls around us
oppresses us
we feel
God’s absence
in raging wars
deception
and deceit
we long to hear
God’s voice
that our hearts may
not be hardened

stir the flame
that is God
in our heart
that strength
and love
and wisdom
may bear
the hardships
of war
and violence
and evil
not stealing
His peace
through the spirit of love
doing the work
that needs
to be done

for the vision
still has its time
pressing on
to fulfillment
we will not
be disappointed-
in patience
we wait

Does  your hearts cry for violence in hardship?
What stills you with the voice of peace?
Can you wait in your faith for God’s fulfillment?
