we pray for
an increase
in our faith
as violence
swirls around us
oppresses us
we feel
God’s absence
in raging wars
deception
and deceit
we long to hear
God’s voice
that our hearts may
not be hardened

stir the flame
that is God
in our heart
that strength
and love
and wisdom
may bear
the hardships
of war
and violence
and evil
not stealing
His peace
through the spirit of love
doing the work
that needs
to be done

for the vision
still has its time
pressing on
to fulfillment
we will not
be disappointed-
in patience
we wait
