Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 62: 1-5; Ps. 1-3, 7-10; 1 Cor 12: 4-11; John 2: 1-12)

this water
turned to wine
a mother
knows
her Son’s time
a step taken
and we
no longer
forsaken
no longer
desolate
are brought
into the land
of Truth’s heart
espoused
gifts are given
for common good
we express
wisdom
and knowledge
faith
and healing
prophecy
gift of tongues
and understanding
spirit enlivens
all
with marvelous deeds
we will not be silent
we are His
water
turned to wine

What is your gift?
How do you share it?

Saturday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Hebrews 4: 12-16; Psalm 19: 8, 9, 10, 15; Mark 2: 13-17

He says
follow me
to the living
God
where truth
lives
in words
that are Spirit
and life
nothing
hidden
in weakness
need
or deceit
only love
revealed
in reflection
and thought
a law
of wisdom
that sets us free
our heart
rejoices
our soul
is refreshed
our eyes
enlightened
in the mercy
and grace
of God

Have you heard Jesus say “follow me”?
What did your heart say?
Are you healed by His presence

Baptism of our Lord

Isaiah 40.1-5, 9-11; Psalm 29. 1-10; Titus 2.11-14; 3.4-7; Luke 3.15, 16, 21, 22

the skies open
and a Holy Spirit
descends
on a beloved
from a God
well pleased
coming
to us
who wait
in anticipation
wondering
and waiting
in our hearts
for good news
of peace-
grasping
our hand
with no partiality
He forms us
opening
our eyes and
setting us free
in the light
of His justice
His love for all
we share in
His good works
blessing
and healing

Questions
Do you accept the grasp of His hand?
Do you accept the blessing of peace?

Saturday after Epiphany

1John 5: 14-21; Psalm 140: 1-9; John 3: 22-30

sing
be glad
dance
and praise
with thanks
for the living God
of love
who protects
us from evil
and hears
our prayers
immerses us
in the Spirit
of Truth
no longer
of a world
that separates us
with sin
and death
we belong
to life
eternal
and goodness

Do you have confidence that God hears your prayers?
Do you ask according to God’s will?
What is God’s will?
