Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dt. 4:1-2, 6-8; Psalm 15: 1-3; James 1:17-18, 21-22, 27, Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23

planted within our heart
we hear the truth
the ancient law of Moses
beating within us
giving life
we do God’s justice
in love of all
purified from within
our soul fed
we are saved
from the evil
ways of
greed and malice
deceit and envy
arrogance and harm
reaching out
to widow
and orphan
to the abandoned–
we abandon
ourselves
to God
becoming doers
not hearers only
of His word

Do you cling to human tradition or do you hear God’s word and act on it?

Saturday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time

1Thes 4:9-11; Psalm 98:1,7-9; Matthew 25:14-30

taught by God
with the justice
of love
we share
what has been given us
through grace
aspiring to
work and live
a peaceful life
within God’s presence
even as we struggle
with our fears
and anxieties
we embrace the light
of God’s love
that is always there

Do you allow the light of God’s presence in?
How do you share God’s light and love?

Wednesday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time

1Thes 2:9-13; Psalm 139: 7-12; Matthew 23:27-32

With God
who searches our heart
and knows us
there is
nowhere
to run
or fly
or hide
from God’s love
shining
into
the dark tomb
of us
bringing
Light
to where
there was
none
enlightened
we see
what has
always been
what will
always be
a pure love
and we
lay down
our arms
and live
in God’s mercy
goodness
and kindness

Where do you try to run and hide?
Have you experienced his light shining within you?
Have you laid down your arms?
