Romans 4:13; 16-18; Psalm 105: 6-9; 42-43; Luke 12:8-12

sing
for joy
at the goodness
that comes
from the one
who gives
Life
to the dead
and calls
into being
what does not
exist
Holy Spirit
guide
of our thoughts
and words
and life
teach us
to choose
Life
at every
turn

How do you choose Life?

Romans 4:1-8; Psalm 32: 1-2, 5, 11; Luke 12: 1-7

in times
of trouble
we turn
to you
oh Lord
confessing
faults
and conflicts
bringing
to light
all that burdens
our soul
all for your
healing
touch
that
we may not
remain
estranged
from your love

Where do you turn in times of trouble?

Romans 3:21-30; Psalm 13:1-6; Luke 11:47-54

made right
by our faith
in His Presence
we see
beyond
the law
to all
that is Good
in this
we Trust
where
forgiveness
and mercy
reside
showering
the Light
of Peace
on all
who wait
in the Lord

In what do you put your faith?

Romans 2:1-11; Psalm 62:2-9; Luke 11:42-46

hard burdens
imposed
on us
we seek
the refuge
of God
where
our soul
is at rest
in God’s
priceless kindness
forbearance
and patience
we live
in God’s mercy
that melts
our stubborn
impenitent
heart
and we overflow
with good works
that are moved
by our faith
in God’s love

Do you seek refuge in God?
Do you experience God’s mercy?

Romans 1:16-25; Psalm 19:2-5; Luke 11:37-41

a wrath
we cannot
acknowledge
or bear to see
knowing only
the injustice
of our own
yet
it bears
upon us
in our idolatry
a stranger
to our creator
in our worship
of our own creations
doing violence
to each other
in our lack
not knowing
our need
until He comes
to show us
our way
a door is opened
into a Light
of God’s glory
residing
in all
as Love
that gives alms

How do you experience the wrath of God?

Rom 1:1-7; Psalm 98: 1-4; Luke 11:29-32

set apart
for the Gospel
we bring
good news
of salvation
to a world
in need
from suffering
sin
and death
one greater
than Jonah
brings a message
of Love
that turns
our life
around
no longer
in need of signs
we see Truth

Has He turned your life around?

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Wisdom 7:7-11; Psalm 90:12-17; Hebrews 4:12-13; Mark 10:17-30

what treasure
do we have
but You
when all else is sand
Wisdom
our heart’s desire
this we love
filled at daybreak
we sing for joy
our one true God
our only Good
where all is possible
and known
you cut through
the lies
that are our life
and penetrate
the soul of us
and form the truth
free of murder
and stealing
unfaithfulness
and lies
dishonor
we sell all
and give our lives
to you
new life given
we understand
the promise
of your love

Do you sell all for the promise of God’s love?
Is God your treasure?
Is God’s love your joy?

JL 4:12-21; Psalm 97:1-12; Luke 11:27-28

in the valley
of decision
we hear
the voice
of God
and follow
we are glad
in it
and give thanks
for darkness
and clouds
may be
all around
but His Light
dawns
in justice
upon all

Are you in a valley of decision?
What do you hear?

Mal 3:13-20; Psalm 1:1-7; Luke 11:5-13

persevere
do not
cease
to ask
for goodness
is always
with you
the eye
of the storm

Do you ask for God’s blessings?

Jonah 4:1-11; Psalm 86:8-10; Luke 11:1-4

our daily
bread
your will
among us
as we
experience
your mercy
and kindness
and give
what is
given
listening
to prophets
we change
our ways
we see
your city
healed
as your love
unfolds
and give thanks

Do you hear the voice of the prophets?
