The Feast of the Transfiguration
Dn 7:9-10,13-14; Psalm 97:1-2,5-6,9; 2Peter 1:16-19; Mark 9:2-10

as the day
dawns
and the
morning star
rises
in our hearts
we see
the light
of who
we are
one
with Him
in God’s glory
a gift
of awe and wonder
of a love and power
beyond
our imagining
that no word
or thought
can capture

Do you see the transforming light?

Numbers 11:4-15; Psalm 81:12-17; Matthew 14:13-21

burdened
by the lost
and the wandering
and by those
who lacked trust
in their
hardened hearts
he cries out
to God
and one is sent
to show them
they have
enough
among them
in hearts that open
to give
the gifts
they have received
sharing
from God’s love
and peace

Has he opened your heart to share?

Eccl 1:2, 2-21-23; Psalm 95: 1-2, 6-9; Col. 3: 1-5, 9-11; Luke 12: 13-21)

we are
a new creation
no longer
our vanities
building
storage
for things
that pass away
we turn
to His voice
with open hearts
and hear
the desire of spirit
for love
and purity
goodness
faithfulness
Truth and
equality
we have our being
in God
singing joyfully
with thanksgiving
we create
and live
in the
empty
space
of spirit
filling it
with love

For what are you building up stores?
On what things is your mind intent?
Are you rooted in the nature of the spirit?

Leviticus 24: 1,3-17; Psalm 67:2-8; Matthew 14:1-12

a severed
head
served
for sins
contrived
and celebrated
leave us
with haunted
images
questioning
who we are
in our
human
waywardness
and all the more
confirming
our need
for the mercy
that follows
Him

How do we deal with the images of human cruelty?
Where do you find mercy?

Leviticus 23:1,4-16,27,34=37; Psalm 81:3-6,10-11; Matthew 13:54-58

a light
too familiar
too close
we are blinded
to one another
losing
our power
for good
yet in turning
to God
we hear
a new melody
that awakens us
to all
that has been
and will be
a Light
and Love
that cannot
be forsaken

Can you hear this melody?

Exodus 40:16-21,34-38; Psalm 84:3-11; Matthew 13:47-53

we move
and have our being
in God
dwelling
in God’s Presence
we keep
our attention
and our step
with God’s Spirit
allowing
all that is evil
to be swept away
while
remaining
open
to God’s Goodness

Do you allow all evil to be swept away?
Do you remain open to God’s goodness?

Exodus 34:29-35; Psalm 99:5-9; John 11:19=27

recollected
in the Presence
of God
we are
radiant
with His love
and His word
knowing
where
our value is
we leave
our anxiety
and worry
and choose
to follow the One
who gives
us Life
and Truth

What do you choose?

Exodus 33:7-11,34:5-9,28; Psalm 103:6-13; Matthew 13:36-43

dealing not
with our sins
or crimes
but in God’s kindness
and mercy
shining like
the sun
we are drawn
to God’s light
for our children’s sake
we embrace all
that is good
and right
and loving
with complete
trust in God
creator
of all things

Do you have complete trust in God?

Exodus 32:15-34; Psalm 106: 19-23; John 11:19-27

our misplaced
worship
leading us astray
we dance before
our golden calves
in contrived ecstasy
all the while
missing
the innate glory
living
and breathing
around us
offering
angels
and a life
risen
from death

What are your golden calves?
Do you see the innate glory that lives and breathes you?

Genesis 18:20-32; Psalm 138; Col 2: 12-14; Luke 11: 1-13

in the silence
we learn to pray
and hear
our Father’s voice
from heaven
bringing God’s will for love
to earth
our daily bread
given
all our needs
are fulfilled
we forgive
knowing
when we ask
we shall
receive what we need
with a mercy
so great
we are saved
from all evil
as all that stands
between us
is cast away
passing through the cross
and risen
to new life

Do you receive our daily bread from Him?
Do you forgive all?
Do you know mercy?
