Jonah 1:1-2:2, 11; John 2:3-5,8; Luke 10:25-37

called
to speak
we run
from His words
wreaking havoc
on all those around us
until left
in darkness
we cry out
and are heard
prophetic words
are spoken
prophetic deeds
are done
we are filled
with compassion
helping those in need
opening the door
to God’s light
and love

Do you run from you calling?
Who answers when you cry out for help?

Habakkuk 1:2-4; Ps: 1-2,6-7, 8-9; 2Timothy 1:6-14; Luke 17: 5-10

we pray for
an increase
in our faith
as violence
swirls around us
oppresses us
we feel
God’s absence
in raging wars
deception
and deceit
we long to hear
God’s voice
that our hearts may
not be hardened

stir the flame
that is God
in our heart
that strength
and love
and wisdom
may bear
the hardships
of war
and violence
and evil
not stealing
His peace
through the spirit of love
doing the work
that needs
to be done

for the vision
still has its time
pressing on
to fulfillment
we will not
be disappointed-
in patience
we wait

Does  your hearts cry for violence in hardship?
What stills you with the voice of peace?
Can you wait in your faith for God’s fulfillment?

Bar 1:15-22; Psalm 9:1-9; Luke 10:13-16

our lives
disordered
as we turn
from God’s way
of Truth
seeking love
and power
in all the wrong places
leaving a trail
of destruction
until we hear
a voice calling us
to see His way
His truth
His light
His cross
a path
leading us home

What do you see in His cross?
How do you hear God’s voice through all the noise?

Neh 8:1-12; Psalm 19:8-11; Luke 10:1-12

let rejoicing
in the Lord
be your strength
God’s word
is clear
enlightening
and enduring
precious
and sweet
abundant
and available
to All
who live
in God’s justice
God’s love of All

Is your mind and heart open to God’s word and love?

Memorial of the Guardian Angels
Neh 2:1-8; Psalm 137; Mt 18:1-5,10

holding
the child
of wonder
we see
the greatest
in heaven
an innocent
trust
and curiosity
of all that is
given
for instruction
in love
and care
we see
the face of God
and follow

Do you experience your guardian angel?
Do you see the child of wonder?
How do you respond?

Zec 8:20-23; Psalm 87:1-7; Luke 9:51-56

the living God
with us
within us
we follow
turning from death
to life
embracing all
the Holy Spirit offers
with compassion
love
joy
peace
kindness
generosity
patience
self-control
gentleness
even as we face
terror, sickness and darkness
we are strengthened
with the light
of God’s courage

How do you embrace the living God?
How do you follow?

Zec 8:1-8; Psalm 102:16-23; Luke 9:46-50

knowing
our hearts
he calls us back
to our child-like
innocence
and wonder
knowing our need
and that all
is possible
in God
who hears
our cries
for love
and justice
and brings
life and peace
to the nations
as we turn
our minds
and hearts
to God

Have you been called back to your child-like innocence?

Amos 6:1, 4-7; Psalm 146: 7-10; Timothy 6:11-16; Luke 16: 19-31

called
to leave
our complacency
and seek justice
for the oppressed
food for the hungry
integrity
piety
faith
love
steadfastness
a gentle spirit
giving ourselves
to the Lord
who sets
the captives free
giving sight
to the blind
and thwarting
the wicked
embraced by Abraham
we see Lazarus
beggar of Life
transformed
in Love
and pray
that our blindness
will not leave stranded
beyond the great abyss

Do you see Lazarus in your midst?
Do you accept his gift?

Zec 2:5-9;14-15; Jeremiah 31:10-13; Luke 9:43-45

once
scattered
we now
gather
together
streaming
to God’s
blessings
where God
turns
our mourning
into joy
consoled
and gladdened
after
our sorrows
we are
encircled
by the fire
of God’s love
dwelling among us

Do you turn to God’s blessings?

Luke 9:18-22

Then
Jesus said
to them
Who do you
say I am?

Who do you say He is?
How does that change everything?
