Feast of St Luke

2Timothy 4:10-17; Psalm 145:10-18; Luke 10:1-9

sent out
to labor
as lambs
among wolves
the harvester
carries
no money
no sack
no sandals
depending
on the kindness
of strangers
curing the sick
revealing
a kingdom
of God
within
and among us
to all who
have eyes
to see

On what do you depend?

Romans 4:1-8; Psalm 32:1-11; Luke 12:1-7

in times
of trouble
we turn to God
and reveal
the darkness
of our hearts
praying for
the light of Truth
that informs
and saves us
from our fear
and the guilt of sin
that separates us–
receiving God’s mercy
and grace
we open

to the joy
of God’s never ending love
and give thanks

Do you turn to God in times of trouble?

Romans 3:21-30; Psalm 13:1-6; Luke 11:47-54

made right
by our faith
in His Presence
we see
beyond
the law
to all
that is Good
in this
we Trust
where
forgiveness
and mercy
reside
showering
the Light
of Peace
on all
who wait
in the Lord

In what do you put your faith?

Romans 2:1-11; Psalm 62:2-9; Luke 11:42-46

hard burdens
imposed
on us
we seek
the shelter
of God
where
our soul
is at rest
in God’s
priceless kindness
forbearance
and patience
we live
in God’s mercy
that melts
our stubborn
impenitent
heart
and we overflow
with good works
that are moved
by our faith
in God’s love

Do you seek shelter in God?
Do you experience God’s mercy?

Romans 1:16-25; Psalm 19:2-5; Luke 11:37-41

exchanging
the truth of God
for a lie
worshiping
the creature
rather than the creator
our lives
became disordered
until
God’s living word
poured into the day
and the night
imparted knowledge
to ears that would hear
the Spirit
discerning reflections
and thoughts
of the heart
prepares us
for God’s wisdom
and our lives
are changed
and we receive
and give
God’s love

What do you worship?
How do you give alms?

Romans 1:1-7; Psalm 98:1-4; Luke 11:29-32

no sign given
only faith
that we will see
the goodness
of the Lord
that our song
will be heard
that salvation
will be known
we will not lose
the gift given
even as death
drawn near
we rejoice
in His eternal Love

How do you hold on to your gift of faith?
What song do you hear in your soul?

Kings 5: 14-17; Ps 98: 1-4; 2 Timothy 2: 8-13; Luke 17: 11-19

listening
to God’s word
and dipping into
God’s flowing waters
we are healed-
seeing ourselves
cleansed
we return
in thanks
blessed with faith
we hold onto
new life
from death
eager for
peace
and the saving power
of love
a song of joy
and praise
breaks
from our lips
at the sight
of justice
revealed
kindness
and faithfulness
remembered

Do you let Him heal your wounds?
Are you grateful for His healing words?
Do you recognize God’s justice as love for all?

JL 4:12-21; Psalm 97:1-12; Luke 11:27-28

in the valley
of decision
we hear
the voice
of God
and follow
we are glad
in it
and give thanks
for darkness
and clouds
may be
all around
but His Light
dawns
in the justice of God’s love
upon all

Are you in a valley of decision?
What do you hear?

Joel 1:13-15-2:1-2; Psalm 9:2-3,6,8,9; Luke 11:15-26

a kingdom
divided
will not stand
so we live
in the undivided heart
singular
in our devotion
to the One
who brings us
Truth
Goodness
and Love
giving thanks
each moment
for the protection
God brings
from our doubts
and conflicts
temptation
and fear
with one sweeping gesture
His Light
of clarity
dawns
and we are free

Do you live with an undivided heart? Do you love your enemies?

Luke 11:5-14

asking
we receive
seeking
we find
all that we need
from God’s Holy Spirit
given
freely
for our benefit
and the good
of all
persistent
in prayer
we see
a way
for peace
and love
healing
and forgiveness
in a desperate
world

Do you ask?
Do you seek?
Do you find?
