from the darkness
of a whale belly tomb
no longer hiding
he proclaims a word
come from God
“forty days more
for Ninevah
or you shall be
destroyed…
repent
from evil ways”
hearts hear
and a fast begins
a city is saved
by turning
to the Lord
guide
truth teacher
savior
compassion
kindness
and goodness
are remembered
in a repentant heart
rejoicing
in humility
a life known
is gone
as a redeemed
Christ world
enters
and renews
