Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Ezekiel 18: 25-28; Psalm 25: 4-9; Phil 2: 1-11; Mt 21: 28-32

in this moment
we have
when our no
is turned to yes
we see
and embrace
the Spirit and Truth of God
letting go
of our sins
and deceptions
we are
emptied
and hear
the voice of love
in Christ
united
to all
where our joy
is completed
leaving
the hardness
of our heart
our interest
and concern for others
is ignited
with God’s love

How do you embrace this moment?
Do you fill it with God’s love?

Wednesday of the Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Ezra 9:5-9; Tobit 13:2-8; Luke 9: 1-6

we take
nothing
for the journey
but God’s love
and faith
walking
in the footsteps
that have gone before us
accepting
hospitality
shaking off the dust
of unwelcome
we walk
humbly
always
in the mercy
that has been shown us
ever mindful
of our need
of God’s wisdom
and strength

Are you mindful of your need for God’s wisdom and strength?
What do you take for the journey?

Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 55: 6-9; Psalm 143; Phil 1: 20-27; Mt: 20: 1-16

God’s thoughts
are not
our thoughts
God’s ways
not our ways
gracious
and merciful
slow to anger
abounding
in steadfast
love
do not
begrudge
Gods’s generosity
the last
being first
for all life
is one
and saved
beyond
our knowing
higher than our ways
higher than our thoughts
but near to those
who call

Do you begrudge God’s generosity?
Do you see the ways and thoughts of God?

Saturday of the Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time

1Tim 6:13-16; Psalm 100:1-5; Luke 8:4-15

each day
God’s word seed
is sown
some days
snatched away
without root
or ensnared
in the thorns
of anxiety
and riches

yet some days
it falls into
the rich soil
of God’s love
embraced by
our generous
and good heart
bearing fruit

let this day
be a day
embraced by
God’s generous

good heart
a day of joy
in the presence
of the Lord

Is this a day of joy in the Lord?
Is God’s love your daily bread?
