Wednesday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

Mark 3: 1-6

we come
before you
on our Sabbath
to remember
who we are
made for goodness
and healing
with withered hand
outstretched
knowing
our need
you heal us
and we feel
the power of Life
holy splendor
falling on us
like the dew
the power
of a life
that cannot
be destroyed
one in you
without beginning
or end

Do you feel the power of God’s life and love?
Have you outstretched your hand to God?
Have you been healed?

Tuesday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

1 Samuel 16:1-13; Psalm 39:20-28; Eph 1:17-18; Mark 2:23-28

not judging
by appearance
God looks
deeply
into our heart
for goodness
and strength
offering us
a Sabbath
for re-creation
and renewal
where we are nourished
on the love
offered us
and the gifts
of the Holy Spirit
enlightening
the eyes of our heart
and the hope
of our calling

How do you see others?
Do you let yourself be nourished by the Sabbath?

Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

A Prayer for Listening
1Samuel 3:3-10,19; Psalm 40:2-10; 1Cor 6:13-20; John 1:35-42

hearing
your calling
I awaken
seeking
the source of you
who writes
your will
upon my heart
returning
to the garden
where all
was created
as good
my body and soul
a temple
of you
Holy Spirit
of our being
I know
what I am looking for
and it is love
I have found it
in you

What are you looking for?
What have you found?

The Baptism of Jesus

Isaiah 40:1-5,9-11; Psalm 29:1-10; Titus 2:11-14; 3.4-7; Luke 3:15-16 21-22

the skies open
and the Holy Spirit
descends
on a beloved son
from a God
well pleased
he comes to us
who wait
in anticipation
wondering
and waiting
in our hearts
for good news
of peace-
grasping
our hand
with no
partiality
He forms us
opening
our eyes and
setting us free
in the light
of God’s justice
God’s love for all
we share in
His good works
blessing
and
healing

Do you accept the grasp of His hand?
Do you accept the blessing of peace?
