Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Jeremiah 11:18-20; Psalm 7:2-3,9-12; John 7:40-53

blinded
by preconceptions
and want
of power
we become
divided
and seek
vengeance
yet the searcher
of mind
and heart
and soul
reveals
a Truth
beyond
our knowing
even as it lives
within
and around us
challenging
and shaping us
putting an end
to malice
and returning us
to Love

Have you been blinded by preconceptions?
What does the searcher of mind and heart and soul reveal to you?

Friday in the Fourth Week of Lent

Wisdom 2:1-11; Psalm 34:17-23; John 7:1-2, 10-30

in our
broken-heartedness
we turn
to God’s promise
of Presence
and comfort
knowing
our Source
of Peace
is deeper
than the world
can give
embracing
the Silence
that leads us
away from the chaos
of the world
to the place
where our tears
are dried
and Life begins
anew

Can you wait in the patience of silence?
Is God close to you in your broken-heartedness?

Thursday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Exodus 32:7-14; Psalm 106: 19-23; John 5:31-47

searching
the Scriptures
we find Him
waiting
to be heard
and loved
into Being
the one
sent
to show us
the Way
leaving behind
our golden idols
we embrace
His burning
shining light

His sacred heart
rejoicing
in the mercy
and compassion
of God’s all-embracing
love

Where to you encounter God’s mercy, compassion and love?
What do you worship?

Tuesday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Ez 47: 1-9, 12; Psalm 46: 2-3, 5-6, 8-9; John 5: 1-16

in our affliction
we hear Him
call our name
reaching into
the heart
and mind
and soul
of us

He asks
if we want to be well
and in a moment
we are changed
knowing we have met
the healing waters
of God’s love

being seen
being heard
by the source
of all love
and Truth
we can only answer
yes

healed
by his word
we stand
and walk
and follow

Do you want to be well?
Do you stand, take up your mat, and follow?

Fourth Sunday of Lent

Samuel 16: 1-13; Psalm 23, 1-6; Eph 5: 8-14; John 9: 1-41

not as man sees
but God
beyond
appearance
into the heart
with the Lord
our shepherd
we shall
not want
and our eyes
shall be opened
to see
beyond
the law
beyond
the Sabbath
beyond
the ritual
to the Truth
the light
awakening us
from sleep
as we pass
from death
to life

Has Jesus healed your vision?
Do you see with His light?

Friday of the Third Week of Lent

Hosea 13: 2-10; Psalm 81: 6-17; Mark 12: 28-34

spirit upon us
like the dewfall
we hear
love God first
with all
your heart
and mind
and soul
let no strange God
come among you
and take the love
of neighbor from you
forgive
and let love
blossom
as freely
as the lilies
casting
as wide
a fragrance
as the cedars
and splendor
of the olive branch

Has a strange God come among you to take the love of your neighbor?
