Tuesday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Hebrews 2: 5-12; Psalm 8: 2-0; Mark 1: 21-28

the demons flee
as the Truth
of His words
descend upon the earth
revealing to us
who we are
in God
aware of the Holy Spirit
who guides us
our minds
and hearts
are opened
to a new way
to live
and be
immersed in God’s love

Are you amazed every day by His words and God’s love for us?
How does the Holy Spirit open you minds and hearts to God’s love?

Monday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Hebrews 1: 1-6; Psalm 97: 1-2, 6-9; Mt 1: 14-20

coming to the morning
with thankfulness
we rejoice
and are glad
in this time
of fulfillment
when heaven reveals itself
among us
and we are no longer
separated

by sin
and death
the Glory of God
reveals itself
to our eyes
shining
and seizing our hearts

with joy
called
by this truth
of love
we follow

Do you see this as the time of fulfillment?
Do you follow when He calls?
Do you see heaven among us?

The Baptism of the Lord

Isaiah 40:1-5,9-11; Psalm 29:1-10; Titus 2:11-14; 3.4-7; Luke 3:15-16 21-22

the skies open
and the Holy Spirit
descends
on a beloved son
from a God
well pleased
he comes to us
who wait
in anticipation
wondering
and waiting
in our hearts
for good news
of peace-
grasping
our hand
with no
partiality
He forms us
opening
our eyes and
setting us free
in the light
of His justice
His love for all
we share in
His good works
blessing
and
healing

Do you accept the grasp of His hand?
Do you accept the blessing of peace?

Saturday after Epiphany

1John 5: 14-21; Psalm 140: 1-9; John 3: 22-30

with confidence
in God
we ask
according to
God’s will
for love
and peace
and justice
compassion
for all
who suffer
and are broken-hearted
trusting
that our prayers
for goodness
in all things
are heard

and will be answered

Do you have confidence that God hears your prayers?
Do you have confidence that they will be answered?

Friday after Epiphany

1John 5:5-13; Psalm 147: 12-15, 19-20; Luke 5:12-16

believing
in Christ
through the Holy Spirit
of Truth
we enter
the eternal life
of God’s love
being healed
and healing
through God’s desire
for our good
we withdraw
with Jesus
to the deserted places
of silence
to pray
and give thanks

Do you believe in Christ through the Spirit of Truth?
Do you accept God’s love and healing?
Do you enter the silence with Jesus to pray?

Thursday after Epiphany

1John 4:19-5:4; Psalm 72: 1-2, 14-17; Luke 4: 14-22

lead
by the power
of the Holy Spirit
He knew
who He was
child of God
bringing us
liberty
sight
and freedom
through God’s love
given to all
freely
in justice
we embrace
His commands
as precious wisdom
light
in our darkness
and life giving word

What do you hear in his commandments of love?
How do you act on God’s words of love?

Wednesday after Epiphany

1John 4:11-18; Psalm 72: 1-2,10,12-13; Mark 6:45-52

He comes
across the waters
of our raging seas
bringing calm
and perfect love
that drives out
the fears
of our hardened hearts
saving
the poor
and the afflicted
through the work
of God’s hand
in each other

Do you believe that perfect love drives out fear?
How do you experience perfect love?

Tuesday after Epiphany

1John 4: 7-10; Psalm 72: 1-8; Mark 6: 34-44

God’s love
sees our hunger
and our need
and calls out
to us
that we might
share
what we have
with another-
our little
with God’s blessing
becomes
the miracle
of abundance
and we have
more than enough
for all
in God’s mercy
and love

Do you feel the call of God’s love?
Do you see that your “little” is enough?
What do you have to share?

Monday after Epiphany

1John 3:22-46; Psalm 2:-8,10-12; Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25

knowing
the Spirit of God
who calls us
we turn away
from false prophets
and deceivers
to those who speak
of God’s love
for all
setting us free
to embrace
a way of life
far from war
and greed
murder
and jealousy
to one
of healing
and compassion
breaking down
the barriers
in our hearts
with His Word

How do you know the Spirit of God?
Have you embraced the way of God’s love?
