Passion Sunday

Isaiah. 50.4-7; Psalm 22: 8-24; Phil 2.6-11; Luke 22.14-23,56

betrayed
His heart
is nearly
broken
with sorrow
begging
companionship
yet no one
stays awake
alone
He faced
His cup
of sorrow
lead away
to enemies
He is denied
tortured
crucified
hung
for us
to see
all sin
all helplessness
forsakenness
darkness
and death
yet still
he offers himself
as bread

What do you see in His death?
What do you see in His helplessness?
What do you see in His forsakenness?
What do you see in His bread?

Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Ezekiel 37: 21-28; Jeremiah 31: 10-13; John 11: 45-56

gathered
into One
we enter
a covenant
of peace
and love
as we turn
from our ignorance
challenged
to leave
behind the politics
of this world
that would destroy us
and enter
a kingdom
where justice-
God’s love of all
reigns
in abundance
providing
all we need
for ourselves
and others
raised
from death
our mourning
is turned
to joy

Where do you turn in your time of distress?
What brings you peace?

John 11: 45-56
Caiaphas
high priest
plotting
in power
and ignorance
thinking
himself
the savior
offers
the true one
who was sent
for sacrifice

Do we do the same?
Who do we follow?

Thursday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Genesis 17:3-9; Psalm 105:4-9; John 8:51-59

waking
to morning
Glory
we see
into the heaven
that surrounds us
faith of the ones
who have carried us
through all the times
of our sorrow
hardship
and grief
never forsaking
our Spirit
even as we felt
forsaken
to this we rise
each day
not grieving the Spirit
but embracing
her Love
praying
and resting
in God’s peace

Do you wake to morning’s Glory?
Do you allow yourself to feel God’s peace?

Tuesday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Numbers 21:4-9; Psalm 102:2-21; John 8:21-30

not of this world
He sees
but from another vision
another Light
from Above
cutting through
our divisions
separateness
and sin
to the place
of our belonging
Love
and Unity
calling us out
to let go
and follow Him
through the door
of the cross
to the Truth
of Being
to the place of
I AM

What do you hear?
What do you see?
Where do you belong?

Fifth Sunday of Lent

Ezekiel 37: 12-14; Psalm 130: 1-8; Romans 8:8-11; John 11: 1-45

from the depths
our cries
are heard
graves opened
we are raised
from the dead
living
in God’s Spirit
of forgiveness
and mercy
no longer bound
we live
in loving-kindness
joy
and compassion
trusting in
God
and His word

When has Christ raised you from the dead?
Do you live in his spirit?

Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Jeremiah 11:18-20; Psalm 7:2-3,9-12; John 7:40-53

blinded
by preconceptions
and want
of power
we become
divided
and seek
vengeance
yet the searcher
of mind
and heart
and soul
reveals
a Truth
beyond
our knowing
even as it lives
within
and around us
challenging
and shaping us
putting an end
to malice
and returning us
to Love

Have you been blinded by preconceptions?
What does the searcher of mind and heart and soul reveal to you?

Thursday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Exodus 32:7-14; Psalm 106: 19-23; John 5:31-47

searching
the Scriptures
we find Him
waiting
to be heard
and loved
into Being
the one
sent
to show us
the Way
leaving behind
our golden idols
we embrace
His burning
shining light

His sacred heart
rejoicing
in the mercy
and compassion
of God’s all-embracing
love

Where do you see God’s mercy, compassion and love?
What do you worship? What is your golden calf?
