Tuesday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Romans 1:16-25; Psalm 19:2-5; Luke 11:37-41

exchanging
the truth of God
for a lie
worshiping
the creature
rather than the creator
our lives
became disordered
until
God’s living word
poured into the day
and the night
imparted knowledge
to ears that would hear
the Spirit
discerning reflections
and thoughts
of the heart
prepares us
for God’s wisdom
and our lives
are changed

What do you worship?

Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 25: 6-10; Psalm 23: 1-6; Phil 4: 12-20; Mt: 22: 1-14

lover
of goodness
and kindness
you show us
our lowliness
our sinfulness
as you provide all
that we need
unconditionally
each moment
yours
we know
you provide
strength
for everything
our hunger
our pain
and we learn
to cope
with every circumstance
this time
ever full
with you
we live
in the eternity
of love

How do you respond to God’s invitation?
Do you know God as your guide…providing for all of your needs?

Friday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

JL 1:13-15-2:1-2; Psalm 9:2-3,6,8,9; Luke 11:15-26

a kingdom
divided
will not stand
so we live
in the undivded heart
singular
in our devotion
to the One
who brings us
Truth
Goodness
and love
giving thanks
each moment
for the protection
God brings
from our doubts
and confliction
temptation
and fear
with one sweeping gesture
His Light
of clarity
dawns
and we are free

Do you have an undivided heart?

Wednesday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Jonah 4:1-11; Psalm 86:3-4,5-6, 9-10; Luke 11:1-4

for every thing
God in great love
shows care
even as the fires
bear down
the storms rage
and the chaos in hearts
spills out
onto the earth
we stop
and pray
with the One sent
who turns
our minds
and hearts
to this day
where our daily bread
is enough
this one day
where all is forgiven
and strength
is given
through the Holy Spirit
to endure

Do you receive God’s daily bread?
How are you strengthened?

Tuesday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Jonah 3:1-10; Psalm 130:1-8; Luke 10:38-42

let your ears
be attentive
to God’s word
speaking in love
to a disordered world
concerned
with many things
except those
that will bring
justice
health
forgiveness
and redemption
ready to destroy
rather than befriend
we are called now
to fast
from all
that separates us
from God’s love
mercy
and compassion

What keeps you separated from God’s love and compassion?

Monday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Jonah 1:1-2:2, 11; John 2:3-5,8; Luke 10:25-37

called
to speak
we run
from His words
wreaking havoc
on all those around us
until left
in darkness
we cry out
and are heard
prophetic words
are spoken
prophetic deeds
are done
we are filled
with compassion
helping those in need
opening the door
to God’s light
and love

Do you run from you calling?
Who answers when you cry out for help?

Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 5: 1-7; Psalm 80: 9-20; Phil 4: 6-9; Mt 21: 33-43

dry land
overgrown
with thorns
and briers
laying
in ruin
lost
to the source
of being
living
by their own
corrupt law
not by all
that is true
honest
admirable
decent
virtuous
and worthy
of praise
killing
what would
bring life
setting a
path of destruction

save us O Lord
save what your right hand has planted
if your face
would shine upon us
then we would
be safe

Are you  connected with the source of your being?
Do you present your needs to God…dismissing all anxiety from your mind?
Does God stand guard over your mind and heart?
