Thursday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time

Exodus 40:16-21,34-38; Psalm 84:3-6,8,11; Matthew 13:47-53

caught
by Heaven
we have found
our dwelling place
secured
by the one
who has followed us
Spirit guide
of our life
traveling through
the cloud of unknowing
to the light
of faith
our heart
and soul
that cried out
to the living God
has been heard
and answered
in ever surprising ways

Have you been caught by Heaven?
How has God surprised you?

Tuesday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time

Memorial of Martha and Mary
Luke 10:38-42

putting away
our anxieties
and worries
of the day to day
we take the time
to listen
to His words
of love
guiding us
along the path
to truth
and freedom
letting go
of our judgements
and our need to control
we see something
essential
in our being
the beauty of our soul
that says we are enough
even more than enough
in God’s love

What do you hear when you listen to His words?
What is the most essential thing

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Genesis 18:20-32; Psalm 138; Col 2: 12-14; Luke 11: 1-13

in the silence
we learn to pray
and hear
our Father’s voice
from heaven
bringing God’s will for love
to earth
our daily bread
given
all our needs
are fulfilled
we forgive
knowing
when we ask
we shall
receive what we need
with a mercy
so great
we are saved
from all evil
as all that stands
between us
is cast away
passing through the cross
and risen
to new life

Do you receive our daily bread from Him?
Do you forgive all?
Do you know mercy?

Friday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time

2 Corinthians 4:7-15

“Brothers and sisters:
We hold this treasure
in earthen vessels,
that the surpassing power
may be of God
and not from us.
We are afflicted
in every way,
but not constrained;
perplexed,
but not driven to despair;
persecuted,
but not abandoned;
struck down,
but not destroyed;
always carrying about
in the body
the dying of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus
may also be manifested
in our body.
For we who live
are constantly being given up
to death
for the sake of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus
may be manifested
in our mortal flesh…

Everything indeed is for you,
so that the grace
bestowed in abundance
on more and more people
may cause the thanksgiving
to overflow
for the glory of God.”

Do you see the treasure that you hold?
What image do you hold of Christ?

Wednesday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Exodus 16:1-15; Psalm 78:18-28; Matthew 13:1-9

with our daily bread
we are nourished
and given
all we need
for the journey
to life
from death
we are
the rich soil
ready and waiting
for the seed
of God’s word
to grow
in our lives
protected
from all
that would
scratch
or scorch
we resist
all that would choke out
God’s love
for us
and in us

and God’s love for all

Do you have ears to hear God’s word?
How does God’s love grow in your life?
