Thursday of the Twenty-second Week in Ordinary Time

Col 1:9-14; Psalm 98:2-6; Luke 5:1-11

casting our nets
into deep waters
we see
His goodness
and love
we leave
everything
and follow
singing
praise
strengthened
with patience
endurance
and joy
we share
the news
of God’s will
God’s love
of all
and are
delivered
from darkness
no longer
afraid

Have you cast your net into the deep waters?
Have you left everything to follow?

Tuesday of the Twenty-second Week in Ordinary Time

1Thes 5:1-6, 9=11; Psalm 27:1,4,13-14; Luke 4:31-37

drawn
to His words
and His light
we are amazed
and astonished
at His authority
and strength
as one who knows
God’s loves
and drives out
the demons
it is here
we wish
to dwell
in the house
of the Lord
with care
and concern
encouraging
and building up
one another
knowing
we will see
the good things
of the Lord
in the land
of the living

Do you experience the authority and strength of His words?
Are you a child of the Light?

Monday of the Twenty-second Week in Ordinary Time

1Thes 4:13-18; Psalm 96:1,3,4-5,11-13; Luke 4:16-30

anointed
by God’s love
He brings
good news
that opens
our eyes
and sets us
free
no longer
captive
and oppressed
we sing
a new song
to the Lord
the heavens
are glad
the earth
rejoices
the sea
and what fills it
resounds
the trees exult
as we hear
of God’s justice
God’s love
of All

Are you overwhelmed by God’s love?

Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sirach 3:17- 20, 28-29; Ps 68: 4-11; Hebrews 12: 18-24; Luke 14: 1,7-14

exalting
ourselves
we reach
beyond
our need
striving for
favored seats
and reward
we forsake
God’s justice
and love
seeking
into things
beyond
our strength
humble
we are showered
with beautiful rains
and make a home
in God’s
goodness
city of the living God
we leave our fear
and trembling
gloomy darkness
and storm
and open
to Jesus’
saving power
saving love

Do we make a home for the poor?
Do we invite those who can not repay us?

Saturday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time

1Thess 4:9-11; Psalm 98:1,7-9; Mark 6:17-29

we love
one another
with unselfish
concern
accepting
one another
in faith
and seek
each other’s good
aspiring
to live
a tranquil life
minding
our own affairs
working with
our hands
singing
for the beauty
of God’s earth
and God’s justice
in His
love for all
our oath
and promise
are to God
alone

Do you live a tranquil life?

Thursday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time

Memorial of John the Baptist
1Thes 3:7-13; Psalm 90: 3-5,12-17; Matthew 24:42-51

fill us
at daybreak
with your love
and kindness
that we
may always
stay awake
doing your works
of mercy
and love
being nourished
and nourishing
a starving world
with your
Presence
prospering
the work
of your hands
keeping at bay
all that
would steal
what is your
goodness

Are you filled at daybreak with his love?

Wednesday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time

1Thes 2:9-13; Psalm 139: 7-12; Matthew 23:27-32

you search us
you know us
there is
nowhere
to run
or fly
or hide
from your love
shining
into the dark tomb
of us
you bring
Light
to where
there was
none
enlightened
we see
what has always been
what will always be
a pure love
and we lay down
our arms
and live
in your mercy
goodness
and kindness

Where do you try to run and hide?
Have you experienced his light shining within you?
Have you laid down your arms?
