Christmas Day

Isaiah 52: 7-10; Psalm 98:1-6; Hebrews 1:1-6; John 1: 1-18

His feet
upon the mountains
we hear glad tidings
and a song sung
to the saving power
of God’ living word
reflecting God’s glory
our sins are healed
in His dwelling
among us
with enduring love
heals our fragments
and varied ways
united by Him
we come into being
He is the light in our darkness
revealing
God to us
revealing
God with us
revealing
God in us
in His fullness
we all have a share
love following
upon love

Do you accept the gift of this day?
Do you hear His new song in you?

Christmas Eve Day

Mass in the morning
2Samuel 7: 1-5, 8-12, 14, 16; Psalm 89: 2-3, 4-5, 29; Luke 1:67-79

the dawn
breaks
upon us
shining out
from a shadow
of darkness
and death
a gift
beyond belief
is given
all we have
longed for
freedom
kindness
mercy
forgiveness
compassion
and love
given
to dwell
in God’s
goodness
forever

Do you believe?

Monday of the Fourth Week of Advent

Mal 3:1-4,23-24; Psalm 25:4-14; Luke 1:57-66

what will
this child be
born
of Truth
and miracle
known
by star gazers
shepherds and kings
as the guide
and teacher
foretold
to follow

who will
endure
the day
of his coming
as brilliant
as the radiance
of the sun
refiner
of our souls
that are set
on fire
in love

Will you endure the day of His coming?

Fourth Sunday of Advent

Isaiah 7: 1-14; Psalm 24: 1-6; Romans 1:1-7; Mt 1: 18-24

have no fear
for our God
is with us
founder of seas
and rivers
we come to see
the face of God
promised in dreams
born to woman
He came
that our hearts
may be filled
with love
and joy
drawing us
from the dead
we speak
His truth
and sing
with praise
as we see God’s glory

and are set free

Do you let go of your fear?
Do you know that God is with us?
Have you been set free?

Friday of the Third Week of Advent

Isaiah 7:10-14;8:10; Luke 1:26-38

an angelic
appearance
a moment
of grace
a reassurance
of fearlessness
a promise
of thrones
and kingdoms
entices
a young girl
to believe
and carry
a child
of the Holy Spirit
to a waiting world
with a message
that God is with us
and love for all
is God’s will
and justice

What is it to be full of grace?
What is it to know and do God’s will?

Wednesday of the Third Week of Advent

Jeremiah 23:5-8; Psalm 72: 1-2, 12-18, 18-10; Matthew 1:18-25

letting go
of fear
we receive
new life
in the Holy Spirit
of God’s glory
seeking
our consent
we pray
for the courage
to say yes
to God’s justice…
that God’s love
of all
may flourish
rescuing the poor
when they cry out
and the afflicted
when they have no one to help

Can you let go of your fear?
Do you see justice as God’s love of all?

Tuesday of the Third Week of Advent

Genesis 49:2,8-10; Psalm 72:1-17; Matthew 1:1-17

Where is the day
of justice?

Where is the day
of peace?

How are our hearts
not shattered
by the daily news?

Who hears the cry
of the poor?

Who defends
the afflicted?

As the names
of saints
and sinners
roll down
the ages
where is our savior?

How do we know
we are loved?

How do we know
we are safe?

How do we know
we have everything
we need
in God’s love
and care?

O Wisdom of our God Most High,
guiding creation with power and love:
come to teach us the path of knowledge!
