Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jonah 3:1-5, 10; Psalm 35:4-9; 1Cor 7:29-31; Mark 1:15

remembering
the kindness
compassion
and goodness of God
we retreat from the darkness
to His calling
turning from ways
that cause division
to see one another
anew
in the eyes
of purest Love
where all things
are possible
justice reigning
in God’s love
for all

Have you experienced the purest love of God?
How does it change how you see?

Saturday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

Heb 9:2-3; 11-14; Psalm 97:2-9; Mark 3:20-21

living not
in the expectations
of others
He was labeled
insane
“out of His mind”
as crowds gathered
to hear His words
and accept His healing

Who among us today
is labeled
in the same way
as our minds and hearts
strain to hear some Truth
amidst the lies, deceptions
and delusions of the day

If He is “out of His mind” where did His mind go?
What voice draws you to Truth and healing?

Thursday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

Hebrews 7:25-8:6; Psalm 40:7-17; Mark 3:7-12

law written
within my heart
I press my ear
to the sound
of its beating
feeling the pulse
of its steady rhythm
set to the pace
of God’s existence
in me
marveling at
its faithfulness
to my day to day
setting the flow
and pace
of love
in my life
enduring
and pressing back
against all
that would break it
or harden it
thankful
for this sacred chamber
and holy place
of prayer in me

What is written in your heart?

Wednesday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

Mark 3: 1-6

we come
before you
on our Sabbath
to remember
who we are
made for goodness
and healing
with withered hand
outstretched
knowing
our need
you heal us
and we feel
the power of Life
holy splendor
falling on us
like the dew
the power
of a life
that cannot
be destroyed
one in you
without beginning
or end

Do you feel the power of God’s life and love?
Have you outstretched your hand to Him?
