Monday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Isaiah 65:17-21; Psalm 30:2-6,11-13; John 4:43-54

looking forward
to the days
of long life
and joy that comes
with the dawn
when we are saved
from our mourning
and it is turned
to dance
when we see
the Love
that lives
and works among us
clearly
and healing
comes to us
and our children

Do you see Love living and working among us?
Has it changed your mourning to dance?

Fourth Sunday of Lent

Samuel 16: 1-13; Psalm 23, 1-6; Eph 5: 8-14; John 9: 1-41

not as man sees
but God
beyond
appearance
into the heart
with the Lord
our shepherd
we shall
not want
and our eyes
shall be opened
to see
beyond
the law
beyond
the Sabbath
beyond
the ritual
to the Truth
the light
awakening us
from sleep
as we pass
from death
to life

Do you see with His light?
Do you see beyond the law, the ritual and the Sabbath?

Friday of the Third Week of Lent

Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord
Isaiah 7: 10-14, 8:10; Psalm 40: 7-11; Hebrews 10: 4-10; Luke: 1: 26-38

Holy Spirit
your will
for love
and justice
finding
its form
within
a willing
womb
allowing
the birth of
God with us
to grow
within
our hearts
and minds
and being
the light
of your love
the only
sign
we need

What form does the Holy Spirit take in your life?

“To do your will, O my God, is my delight,
and your law is within my heart!” Psalm 40:8

Tuesday of the Third Week of Lent

Dn 3:25,34-43; Psalm 25:4-0; Matthew 18:21-35

our hearts
troubled
by the ways
of the world
we look to God
and are answered
by the Holy Spirit
who lifts us up
we remember
the ways
of kindness
goodness
compassion
and truth
always merciful
to the contrite heart
we forgive
as we are forgiven
and embrace
the Light

Where do you look when your heart is troubled?

Monday of the Third Week of Lent

2Kings 5: 1-5; Psalm 42: 2,3; 43: 3-4; Luke 4: 24-30

blinded
by familiarity
wealth
and power
yet longing
for healing
and thirsting
for the living God
we dare
to enter
our poverty
relinquishing
all
we enter
the light
and love
of God
seeing
God’s face
we are healed
and sing
in our gladness
and joy

Do you dare relinquish all for the mystery of God’s love?

Third Sunday of Lent

Exodus 1: 3-7; Ps 95: 1-9; 2Romans 5: 1-8; John 4: 5-42

with no need
of worthiness
the water
and grace
of life
flows upon
the wanderers
whose hearts are open-
ready to receive
the woman
hears
her Truth
and a heart of stone
melts
into a heart
of love
singing
joyfully
knowing
that salvation
has come
to the weary ones
to the outcasts
all are loved
in this Spirit
and Truth

Do you tell God all of your needs?
Do you hear and respond to truth spoken into your heart?
