Kings 19:16-21 ; Ps 16: 1-11 ; Galatians 51, 13-18 ; Luke 9:51-62

entering
the homelessness
of Christ
no den
no nest
He is our home
our following
we enter his Holy Spirit
the place of love
knowing no boundaries
of Samaritan
of flesh
of law
but enjoined
to freedom
we follow
at any moment
His call
to love’s need
hand to the plough
we do not look back
only to
the path of life
our refuge
our counsel
this we serve
and enter
the joy
of the Lord

Have you left all behind to enter His spirit?
Do you look back?
Do you answer love’s call in a moment?
Do you experience His homelessness?
Do you find a home in Him?

Lamentations 2:2,10-14,18-19; Psalm 74:1-2,3-7,20-21; Matthew 8:5-17

we lament
we despair
they say peace
and prosperity
where there is none
as we reap
the destruction
sown
by our ways
until
a path
of integrity
is shown
a word
is spoken
to our humility
and healing
comes

What are the prophets saying?
From where will healing come?

Nativity of John the Baptist

Isaiah 49:1-6; Psalm 139: 1-3,13-15; Acts 13:22-26; Luke 1:57-66,80

created
named
and known
by God
from our mother’s womb
we pass through
a baptism
of repentance
into a life
of love
formed
by His word
carrying out
His call
through
hardships
and joy
from the Glory
we have seen

Are you known by God?
How have you been called by God?

2Kings 24:8-17; Psalm 79: 1-9; Matthew 7:21-29

he knows us
by God’s will
in our mind
and heart
and deed
a solid
foundation
for the storms
that come
His will
to love
and seek
the good
of another
is our guide

Does Jesus know you?
What is God’s will?
Do you do the will of God?

2Kings 22:8-13; Psalm 119:3-40; Matthew 7:15-20

words
lost
are found
revealing
a Truth
that transforms
our mind
and heart
and soul
bearing fruit
and giving life
to a starving world

What fruit do his words bear in your life?

2Kings 19:9-11,14-21,31-36; Psalm 48:2-11; Matthew 7:6,12-14

a mind
wide open
to God
is lead
through
the narrow gate
that gives
birth
to new life
drawn
to the light
we do
the good
to others
that has been done
to us
giving
His word
of love
to all
that would hear
the earth
becomes
His holy mountain

Is your mind wide open to the word of God?

2Kings 17:5-8,13-18; Psalm 60:3-5, 12=13; Matthew 7:1-5

the shadow
cast over
my own eyes
blinds me
to God
and others
i judge
unmercifully
until
mercy
finds me
in the eyes
of one
who is love

Have the eyes of mercy found you?

Zechariah 12:10-11; Psalm 63:2-9; Galatians 3:26-29; Luke 9:18-24

there is no
male or female
slave or free
Jew or Greek-
in our thirst
soul
pressed
against
the earth
we long
for living water
in this suffering life
this life of
mourning
parched
and lifeless
we are
ready
to give up all
for the truth
of His kindness
and goodness
we lose
our life
and find it
again
with joy
in the
God
who
upholds us

Is your soul thirsting for God?
Do you feel the joy of living in the shelter of God’s wing?
Does God uphold you?

2Kgs11:1-4,9-18,20; Psalm 132:11-18; Matthew 6:19-23

treasure
found
in the Light
of Christ
we live
always
in God’s Presence
knowing
which way to go
towards
His goodness
freed
from darkness
and fear
we give thanks
and rejoice

Where does your treasure lie?

Sirach 48:1-14; Psalm 97:1-7; Matthew 6:7-15

words
of fire
come
that illuminate
the mind
and hearts
of those who hear
we pray
to him
for His kingdom
of heaven
to come to us
we receive
our daily bread
as we forgive all
and are forgiven
delivered from evil
and peace
settles
upon the earth

What is your daily bread?
