Mark 8: 14-21

do you not see?
do you not hear?
do you not understand?
there is enough
do not let
you hearts
be hardened
by the religion
of the Pharisees
and the politics
of Herod
but live
in the holy spirit
who guides us
to share in faith
with love and joy
patience and peace
kindness and gentleness
for the common good
in God’s justice
God’s love for all

Is your heart troubled and hardened by religion and politics?
Do you see the path of the Holy Spirit?
Do you follow?

James 1:1-11; Psalm 119:67-76; Mark 8:1-13

asking in faith
not doubting
we are given
all we need
no miraculous sign needed
just a love
and grace
given freely
knowing
that though we pass away
as the flower
in the field
our soul lives on
in the joy of the Lord

Do you ask God for what you need in faith?
What do you receive?

Lv 13: 1-2, 44-46; Psalm 32: 1-2, 5, 11; 1 Cor 10: 31-11: 1; Mk 1: 40-45

set apart
in our sickness
we shout
“unclean”
living
in isolation
and waiting
faith

turning to God
in our sorrow
and agony
we reach out
to his will
for our healing

no longer
set apart
and alone
we are filled
we joy

Who do you set apart?
How do you bring healing?

1Kings 12:26-32, 13:33-34; Psalm 106:6-7,19-22; Mark 8:1-10

His heart moved
by our hunger
we are invited
to share
all we have
one to another
our bread
gathered
blessed
and broken
in thanks
for the gift
of giving
making no idol
of bread
but offered
in worship
of the Spirit
who inspires
all as gift

What inspires you to share all you have?

1Kings 11:29-32,12:19; Psalm 81:10-15; Mark 7:31-37

“Be opened”
To God’s healing touch
upon your ears
your mouth
and your hardened heart
to hear His voice
of love
guiding you
in new ways
of Being
away from hatred
weapons
and war
to kindness
generosity
and peace

What does kindness, generosity and peace look like?
How do we create it?

1Kings 11:4-13; Psalm 106:3-4, 35-40; Mark 7:24-30

begging
for our children
we persist
in our love
that they stay
on the path
of Truth
and light
goodness
and love
always guided
by the Holy Spirit
to a place
of healing
and courage
and are not lead astray

What do you pray for the children?
What do you pray for the parents?

1Kings 10:1-10; Psalm 37: 5-6,30-31, 39-40; Mark 7:14-33

the mouth
of the just
speaks wisdom
bringing light
and peace
to your heart
offering refuge
in time of distress
providing goodness
to the world
through the strength
of the Holy Spirit
counter to a culture
of weapons and war
He offers peace
love and mercy
and kindness
to All

Who do you trust?
In what do you put your faith?

1Kings 8:22-30; Psalm 84:3-11; Mark 7:1-13

gathering together
in faith
we offer our prayers
and petitions
with all of our heart
as our souls
cry out
to the living God
who lives beyond
our traditions
and rituals
in the very being
of love
we pray
that our lives
might live out
the commands of love
and mercy
in a desperate world

How do you live out the commands of love and mercy?

1Kings 8:1-7,9-13; Psalm 132:6-10; Mark 6:53-56

in dark clouds
of following
we come
to be healed-
healing for ourselves
and all those
we love
even our enemies
as we see God’s word
as life
long have we followed
with hearts
of endless need
seeking only
our daily bread
and God’s will
for love

Who do you offer up to God’s healing touch

Job 7.1-4,6,7; Psalm 147: 1-6; 1 Cor 9.16-19,22,23; Mark 1.29-39

Job
you speak of
our drudgery
our slavery
our misery
troubled nights
restless til dawn
we wake in hopelessness
and despair
our life
like the wind
come and gone
our happiness
with it

for this
our poverty
we wonder
who will
answer our cries?

into this void
this dark night
we call

we pause

for soul speaks
from the dark
a song of praise
arises
in the void before
creation
our God
answers

we praise
as goodness comes
we praise
His graciousness
we praise
His gathering
His rebuiding
we praise
Him healer of broken hearts
wound binder
we praise
caller of stars by name
He fills our
empty space
we praise

we come before Jesus
our broken hearts
demons and illness
in hand
the truth of God’s love
heals us
alive within us
we move with Him
to the lonely places
in deep silence
our Jesus heart
restored

word upon our lips
compelled
we must speak
of such great love
a charge given
in spirit
imageless love
flows
to the present need
all things to all
we rise from the dead
to serve
what has loved us
to life

Of what are you compelled to speak?
