The Feast of the Transfiguration
Dn 7:9-10,13-14; Psalm 97:1-2,5-6,9; 2Peter 1:16-19; Mark 9:2-10

as the day
dawns
and the morning star
rises
in our hearts
we see
the light
of who
we are
one
with Him
in God’s glory
a gift
of awe
and wonder
of a love
and power
beyond
our imagining
that no word
or thought
can capture

Do you see the transforming light?

Ex: 16:2-4,12-15; Ps 78: 3-4,23-25, 54; Ephesians 4: 17, 20-24; John 6: 24-35

our daily
bread
sent down
from heaven
feeds
our heart
and minds
the spiritual food
that we
might grow
into a new creation
laying aside
our former
way of life
lived in
illusion
that we
may see
the Truth
through God’s
divine love
sent to save us
and feed us

Are God’s words food for your Spirit?

Jeremiah 26:11-15,24; Psalm 69:15-16,30-31,33-34; Matthew 14:1-12

some are spared
and some
are not
even in
their righteousness
we are subject
to the hands
that hold us
yet in the hands
of God’s great love
our soul
is safe
for no Truth
dies with death
and we stand firm
within God’s Presence

Are you safe in the great love of God?

Jeremiah 26:1-9; Psalm 69:5,8-10,14, John 11:19-27

in God’s great love
our prayers
are answered
constantly
sending
guidance
through
the Holy Spirit
prophets
and priests
saved
from our sin
suffering
and death
zeal for His house
consumes us
as we spread
the good news
of God’s love

Do you hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, prophets and priests?
Does zeal for His house consume you?

Jeremiah 18:1-6; Psalm 146: 1-2,3-4,5-6; Matthew 13:47-53

in God’s hands
we are clay
fashioned
by a Will
and Spirit
for good
putting not
our trust
in princes
and men
for salvation
but in the Presence
we have come
to know
as the God of love
our Creator
and Savior

How do you experience your creator?
How do you experience being clay in the potter’s hands?

Jeremiah 15:10,16=21; Psalm 59:2-18; Matthew 13:4-46

this pearl
of great price
demanding all
this kingdom
of heaven
within
we sell all
we have
for it
and offer
our repentance
to a mercy
beyond
our means
bringing forth
what is precious
from the mouth
of God

Where do you find heaven?
How do you bring forth what is precious?

Jeremiah 14:17-22; Psalm 79: 8-13; Matthew 13:36-43

you plant
your seed
within us
your Word
that gives
Life
we tend
its soil
with love
and compassion
yielding
its weeds
to you
for rooting up
and pruning
then offering
first fruits
to the Light
of Glory

Who tends to your heart?

Jeremiah 13:1-11; Dt 32:18-21; Mt 13:34:35

following
the voice of Truth
given in love
to our minds
and hearts
our small seed
of faith
grows in abundance
fulfilling all
our spiritual needs
with the fruits
of the Holy Spirit
lived out
in our daily life

What seed has been planted in your mind and heart?
What has taken root?
How is it lived out in your daily life?

2 Kings 4: 42-44; Psalm 145: 10-11, 15-18; Eph 4: 1-6; John 6: 1-15)

“the hand of the Lord
feeds us
and answers
all our needs”
one body
one spirit
we gather first fruits
and feed
one another
as ancient prophets
and Jesus
are one with us
we know
there is enough
in open hands
the justice of God
pours out
to satisfy
the desire
of every living thing–
to be king
was not God’s answer
but to know God
and each other
heart to heart
and call upon him
for Truth
God who is just
in all ways.

Do you call upon God for Truth?
Do you believe you have enough and share?
Do you live with open hands?

Jeremiah 7:1-11; Psalm 84:3-11; Matthew 13:24-30

our heart
and soul
cry out
for the dwelling place
in God
that gives us
our strength
to live
and shelter
the needs
of others
living
among
the weeds
and wheat
we pray
to not be uprooted
that what is good
in us
may flourish
in its due time

What is it to live among the weeds and the wheat?
