putting away
our anxieties
and worries
of the day to day
we take the time
to listen
to His words
of love
guiding us
along the path
to truth
and freedom
letting go
of our judgements
and our need to control
we see something
essential
in our being
the beauty of our soul
that says we are enough
even more than enough
in God’s love

What do you hear when you listen to His words?

yeast
of faith
growing
in our heart
and mind
and soul
we turn away
from all
that keeps us
distracted
and confused
worshiping
not in illusion
but in the Spirit
of Love and Truth
we receive
our daily bread

How easily are you distracted and confused?
What is your golden calf?

in the silence
we learn to pray
and hear
our Father’s voice
from heaven
bringing God’s will for love
to earth
our daily bread
given
all our needs
are fulfilled
we forgive
knowing
when we ask
we shall
receive what we need
with a mercy
so great
we are saved
from all evil
as all that stands
between us
is cast away
passing through the cross
and risen
to new life

Do you receive our daily bread from Him?
Do you forgive all?
Do you know mercy?

our heart
and soul
cry out
for the dwelling place
in God
that gives us
our strength
to live
and shelter
the needs
of others
living
among
the weeds
and wheat
we pray
to not be uprooted
that what is good
in us
may flourish
in its due time

What is it to live among the weeds and the wheat?
Do you offer God a sacrifice of praise?

2 Corinthians 4:7-15

“Brothers and sisters:
We hold this treasure
in earthen vessels,
that the surpassing power
may be of God
and not from us.
We are afflicted
in every way,
but not constrained;
perplexed,
but not driven to despair;
persecuted,
but not abandoned;
struck down,
but not destroyed;
always carrying about
in the body
the dying of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus
may also be manifested
in our body.
For we who live
are constantly being given up
to death

in our mortal flesh…

the rich soil
ready and waiting
for the seed
of God’s word
to grow
in our lives
protected
from all
that would
scratch
or scorch
we resist
all that would choke out
God’s love
for us
and in us
and God’s love for all

call our name
we remember
and recognize
who we are
made from Goodness
made for Goodness
the love of Christ
impels us
what we have longed for
is here
our help
and our joy
our soul clings fast
to what is revealed
while we live
and grow
in the freedom
of God’s word

required–
at your feet
we listen
and hear All
as the love of God
fills us
from this new life
within
justice springs forth
we are completed in you
even in our suffering
there is joy
as all our works
are from you
Truth in our heart
we harm no one
nor use another
we turn from evil
and live
only in your presence

Do you become lost in our doing?
Do you enter this stillness at the feet of Christ?
Do you act from the center of God’s presence?
