Neh 8:1-12; Psalm 19:8-11; Luke 10: 1-12

sent out
with nothing
but the love
and peace
of God
whose precepts
are perfect
trustworthy
right
enlightening
and clear
although lambs
among wolves
with no money
no sack
no sandals
we have all
we need
for the harvest
we labor
rejoicing
in the Lord
who is our strength

What do you need for your journey?
What are the things you carry?

Dn 7:9-10, 13-14; Psalm 138: 1-5; John 1:47-51

with no duplicity
we see the heavens
opened
where Truth resides
pouring upon
the earth
a great kindness
to those who can see
and hear
and live out
with thankfulness
rejoicing and singing
and love
the care of all creation

Do you see love as an angel who conquers all fear and evil?
What do you see when the heavens are opened?

Zec 8:20-23; Psalm 87:1-7; Luke 9:51-56

the living God
with us
within us
we follow
turning from violence

and death
to life
embracing all
the Holy Spirit offers
with compassion
love
joy
peace
kindness
generosity
patience
self-control
gentleness
even as we face
terror, sickness and darkness
we are strengthened
with the light
of God’s courage

How do you embrace the living God?
How do you follow?

Zec 8:1-8; Psalm 102:16-23; Luke 9:46-50

knowing
our hearts
he calls us back
to our child-like
innocence
and wonder
knowing our need
and that all
is possible
in God
who hears
our cries
for love
and justice
and brings
life and peace
to the nations
as we turn
our minds
and hearts
to Him

Have you been called back to your child-like innocence?
Do you experience God’s love as justice?

Numbers 11:25-29; Psalm 19:8-10;, 12-14; James 5:1-6; Mark 9: 38-43, 45, 47-48

the Spirit
came to rest on them
bringing God’s word
of wisdom
and life
to share
with one another
a perfect Law

and love
that brings joy to the hearts

of those who can hear
turning us
from the riches that spoil
devour and fade
to the gifts
that heal
and nurture
and grow
into God’s love

Do we separate from all that would keep us from God?
Do the precepts of the Lord give joy to our heart?

Zec 2:5-9;14-15; Jeremiah 31:10-13; Luke 9:43-45

once
scattered
we now
gather
together
streaming
to God’s
blessings
where God
turns
our mourning
into joy
consoled
and gladdened
after
our sorrows
we are
encircled
by the fire
of God’s love
dwelling among us

Do you turn to God’s blessings?

Luke 9:18-22

Then
Jesus said
to them
Who do you say I am?

Who do you say He is?
How does that change everything?

Hg 1:1-8; Psalm 149:1-9; Luke 9:7-9

considering
our ways
we search
for answers
and find a voice
that sings
and rejoices
in between
all the world’s troubles
and dissatisfaction
lies the path
of truth
and life-
this is where
we choose
to live

Where do you choose to live?

Ezra 9:5-9; Tobit 13:2-8; Luke 9: 1-6

we take
nothing
for the journey
but God’s love
and faith
walking
in the footsteps
that have gone before us
accepting
hospitality
shaking off the dust
of unwelcome
we walk
humbly
always
in the mercy
that has been shown us
ever mindful
of our need
of God’s wisdom
and strength

Are you mindful of your need for God’s wisdom and strength?

Ephesians 4:1-7,11-13; Psalm 19:2-5; Matthew 9:9-13

be worthy
of the call
you have received
and the grace given
with humility
gentleness
patience
and peace
follow
as the day
pours out the word to day
and night to night
imparts knowledge
hear the voice that resounds
throughout the earth
“love one another
as I have loved you”

Are you worthy of the call you have received?
