Luke 5:1-11

seeking mercy
we cast our nets
into deep waters
hoping to see
God’s goodness
and love
ready to leave
everything
to follow
and be strengthened
with patience
endurance
and joy
longing to share
the good news
of God’s will
God’s love of all
and be delivered
from the darkness

that surrounds us
no longer
afraid

Have you cast your net into the deep waters?
Are you ready to leave everything to follow?

1Cor 3:1-9; Psalm 33:12-21; Luke 4:38-44

reminded
of who we are
God’s co-workers
In God’s field
we persevere
in times of hardship
struggle
and disillusion
relying on our faith
in God’s love
and God’s mercy
for healing
and restoration
even as we live
in uncertainty

Where does your faith live?
Do you remember who you are?
Where is the good news?

1 Cor2:10-16; Psalm 145:8-14; Luke 4:31-37

what is there
about his word
that holds
such authority
drawing out
the demons
of our heart
and expelling them
we are given
a new life
in the spirit
that scrutinizes
even the depths
of God
amazed
by the goodness and kindness
mercy and compassion
that we behold
we follow

What demons are drawn from your heart?
Do you behold the great mercy of God?

Memorial of John the Baptist
Mark 6:17-19

in fear
of another’s thoughts
and opinion
we do
what we do not wish
disregarding
the voice
of Wisdom
within
that asks for pause
and contemplation
of our greatest gift
of undying love
capable
of reaching
beyond enmity
creating a peace
that only heaven
knows

Where do you find wisdom?
Do you pause to hear Wisdom’s voice?
Do you trust what you hear?
Do you dare to love your enemy?

Sirach 3:17- 20, 28-29; Ps 68: 4-11; Hebrews 12: 18-24; Luke 14: 1,7-14

exalting
ourselves
we reach
beyond
our need
striving for
favored seats
and reward
we forsake
God’s justice
and love
seeking
into things
beyond
our strength-
humble
we are showered
with beautiful rains
and make a home
in God’s
goodness
city of the living God
we leave our fear
and trembling
gloomy darkness
and storm
and open
to Jesus’
saving power
saving love

Where do you make your home?
Do we invite those who can not repay you?

Matthew 25:14-30

taught by God
with the justice
of love
we share
what has been given us
through grace
working
and living
within God’s presence
even as we struggle
with our fears
and anxieties
we embrace the light
of God’s love
that is always there
offering peace

Do you allow the light of God’s presence in?
How do you share God’s light and love?

1Cor 1:17-25; Psalm 33:1-5,10-11; Matthew 25:1-13

what wisdom
in this cross
this crucified one
this Son of God
accepting
a death
in a silence
beyond
our ways
of knowing
appearing foolish
as we seek
the world’s power
and escape
yet
standing ready
at the door
in faith
His love
appears again
as our hearts
are opened
to the Holy Spirit
and flooded
with the light
of God’s love
eternal

Is the door of your heart opened to God’s light and love?

Cor 1:1-9; Psalm 145:2-7; Matthew 24:42-51

we hear
His words
to stay awake
for His coming
is now
in every
spiritual gift
given
day to day
for our blessing
and blessing others
with God’s goodness
imparted to us
as we sing
of God’s justice
and mercy
kindness
compassion
and love
never giving up hope
in God’s presence

Are you awake to God’s word?
Does God’s word bless your day?
Do you bless others?

John 1:45-51

without duplicity
He comes
calling us
to a new way
of seeing
open eyes
and hearts
we leave
our preconceptions
and enter
love’s realm
extending
compassion
and loving-kindness
without reservation
because of the heaven
we have seen
through God’s eyes

Have your eyes been opened?
What do you see?

2Thes 2:1-3,14-17; Psalm 96:10-13; Matthew 23:23-26

God’s word
living and effective
discerns
the reflections
and thoughts
of our heart
cleansed
within
and without
our vision
is cleared
we are set free
to see God’s love
at work in the world
encouraged
day by day
through grace
we turn away from blind guides
and serve the God of love

Is God’s word living and effective in your love?
What do you serve?
