Solemnity of All Saints
Rv 7:2-4,9-14; Psalm 24:1-6; 1Jn 3:1-3; Mt 5:1-12

seeking
the face
of God
we find Him
in the One
who comes
in blessing
of our poverty
of Spirit
our mourning
our meekness
our hunger
and thirst
for righteousness
peace
and purity
guiding us
through times
of great distress
we rest
from our burdens
in Him

Where do you find God?

Phil 2:1-4; Psalm 131:1-3; Luke 14:12-14

a stilled
soul
unselfish
living
in participation
with the Holy Spirit
compassionate
merciful
thinking always
of another
not needing
repayment
just resting
in the joy
of a heart
united
with God’s love

How does your soul experience stillness?

Wisdom 11:22-12:3; Ps 145 1-2, 8-14; 2 Thess 1: 1-22, Luke 19: 1-10

imperishable spirit
of all things
compassionate
kind
lover of souls
you spare
all things-
grain
from a balance
a drop
of morning dew
before you
the smallness
of our being
cries out-
we climb
to sycamore heights
to hear
to see
a sight
of Him who seeks
to save us
He calls
us down
to follow
the path

of love

Do you seek the God who seeks you?
Do you accept the gift?
Do you give the gift given you?

Phil 1 18-26; Psalm 42:2-3; Luke 14:1, 7-11

our souls
thirsting
for the living God
become
magnified
in an incomparable
goodness
as we behold
God’s face
in the love
of another
serving
this love
in Christ
we are humbled
and grateful
with
an unimaginable joy

Where do you see the face of God?
Where do you see God’s love?

Eph 2:19-22; Psalm 19:2-5; Luke 6:12-16

a night
of prayer
showered
by Spirit’s gifts
where
the heavens
declare
the glory of God
imparting
knowledge
a voice
heard
through
all the earth
a message
of love
creating
the dwelling place
of God in Spirit
the day
pours out
the word
to day
to all
who would hear

Have you prayed through the night with Jesus?
What do you hear in your prayer?

Eph 6:10-20; Psalm 144:1-10; Luke 13:31-35

what armor
but God
would protect us
from some
fashioned evil
knowing
what may come
we prepare
our hearts
and mind
shielding
from what may
destroy us
we put all
our trust
in God
and God’s mercy
singing
and chanting
blessing
the power
that saves

In what do you put your trust?

Eph 6:1-9; Psalm 145:10-14; Luke 13:22-30

we cannot
bear
the thought
of being
turned away
from a love
we thought
we knew–
what is this
narrow gate
to God
that will
save us
this obedience
that will
guide
our hearts
and minds
and steps
and lift us
when we have fallen
raise us
when we are bowed down?

Who will open the door for us?

Ephesians 5:21-33; Psalm 128:1-5; Luke 13:18-21

seed planted
yeast
folded in
we surrender
to the power
of new life
within us
growing
yielding
to a promised
heaven
already here
waiting
for our consent
reclaiming
what is lost
through
the world’s deceptions
we begin again
in the Light
of Truth

Do you believe in the power of the mustard seed?

Ephesians 4:32-58; Psalm 1:1-6; Luke 13:10-17

set free
of infirmity
we live
in the Spirit
of God
moving
with kindness
compassion
and forgiveness
not held down
by immorality
impurity
greed
or believing
empty arguments
but embracing
the Light of Truth-
firmly planted
like a tree
near running water
we bear fruit
in due season
rejoicing
in our freedom

From what have you been set free?

Sirach 35: 12-18; Ps 34: 2-3; 17-19; 23; 2 Timothy 4:6-8,16-18; Luke 18: 9-14

we pray
that God be

close to
the brokenhearted
that those crushed
in Spirit
he save
that the Lord
hear
the cry
of the poor
not turning
a deaf ear
to the wail
of orphans
to the wail
of widows
that he hears our cries–

piercing the cloud
humbled
we know
ourselves
as sinners
and await
mercy
for not having
done enough
and turn
our lives
over to God
waiting for
His love
to show us
the way

Do you hear the cries of the poor?
Do you know mercy?
To whom do you pray?
