Genesis 13:2-18; Psalm 15:2-5; Matthew 7:6,12-14

where is
the narrow gate
constricted road
that leads
to life
some cross
that calls us
through
its mysterious way
some mystical
birth canal
where we are
nourished
in God’s womb
then expelled
into the Light
of Knowing
spiritual senses
ignited
we live
in Heaven’s realm
of Love
tasting
and seeing
God’s Goodness
of All

Where is your narrow gate?

Genesis 12: 1-9; Psalm 33: 12-22; Mt 7: 1-5

speak
the truth
and set
it free
not with judgment
but with vision
setting
a path
to a promised land
where
all needs
are met
in kindness
generosity
and gentleness
when
the violence
of greed
is left behind

Do you speak the truth with love?

Jeremiah 20: 10-13; Ps 69 8-10, 14, 17, 33-35; Rom 5: 12-15; Mt. 10:26-33

do not be afraid
as the light
will reveal
itself
from darkness
Truth of Christ
of love
of life
from the God who probes
the mind
and heart
sees
and rescues us
answering
our prayers
the prayers
of the poor
with mercy
and love

Who is Christ in your life?
How does he bring light and Truth?

Solemnity of John the Baptist
Luke 1:57-66,80

formed
in our mother’s womb
we know
who we are
as we are called
into the light
and named
by the one who loves us
we embrace
the journey
of our lives
with all of its mystery
joys and sorrows
being lead
through our questions
that are answered
through God’s love

What are your questions?
Who answers?

1Cor 11: 18, 21-30; Psalm 34: 2-7; Matthew 6: 19-23

heaven
among us
we seek
our treasure there
not in things
where moth
and decay can destroy
or thieves steal
but in God’s love
and joy
and peace
eternal
patience
kindness
generosity
and compassion
the fruits
of heaven
given
freely
to all
who can see

Where does your treasure lie?
What brings light to the darkness in you?

Matthew 6:7-15

“This is how you are to pray
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be don,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.”

As you forgive, so will you be forgiven.

Do you forgive everything?
Where does the power of forgiveness come from?

2Cor 9: 6-1; Psalm 112: 1-9; Matthew 6: 1-6; 16-18

seeing
God’s
generosity
we pour out
our love
as God
makes
every grace
abundant
to our poverty
gracious
merciful
and just
we give
and pray
and fast
not to be seen
but for
God’s goodness

Do you experience the abundance and generosity of God?
Do you go to your inner room to pray?
Does God offer you sanity through your prayers?

2Cor 8:1-9; Psalm 146: 2-9; Matthew 5: 43-48

giving
themselves
first to God
they experienced
joy
and generosity
flowing
even through
their poverty
and affliction
and the miracle
of love
even of enemies
and prayer
for persecutors
for this
we praise
and keep faith
in the Lord
who gives
justice
as love

Do you love your enemies?

2Cor 6: 1-10; Psalm 98: 1-4; Matthew 5: 38-42

letting go
of the violence
of possession
we give
our coat
and walk
the extra mile
giving
to the one
who asks
enduring
in affliction
and hardship
with patience
and kindness
and love
seen as poor
and sorrowful
or dying
we live
in joy
having
all we need
in God
we sing
and rejoice

Have you let go of the violence of possession?
How do you endure affliction and hardship?
Where do you find joy?

Ex. 19:2-6; Psalm 100: 1-2,3,5,; Romans 5:6-11; Mt. 9:36-10:8

borne up into Him
on eagle’s wings
by a voice
who speaks of Love
we sing joyfully
and with gladness
for the goodness
and kindness
that endures
forever
reconciled
we join Him
in healing Love
that cures
and raises us
to new life
giving freely
what has been given
at no cost

Does God’s voice and presence raise you up to new life?
Do you share at no cost what has been given you freely by God?
