waiting
for the dawn
believing
in Him
our eyes
are opened
to a Light
of Love
that saves
gazing
on loveliness
we see
God’s bounty
in the land
of the Living
and are in awe
given
courage
and patience
our fear
dissipates
and we become
the day

hearing God’s word
and acting on it
we build
a solid foundation
of God’s love
our house
stands firm
even as storms come
and winds blow
for God’s peace
dwells here
in the secure trust
of His Being
with us
a refuge
and home
of God’s pure light
that shines
for all

Do you dwell secure in God’s love and peace?

the veil lifted 
we see
a banquet
before us
our Spirit
restored
we see
the love of the God
and feel God’s saving power
there is nothing more
we shall want
as goodness
and kindness
pursue us
and feed us
the blind see
the lame walk
the deaf hear
death is destroyed
every tear
wiped away
we rejoice
and praise
as we live in hope
with Him

How do you experience God’s light and love?
How do you experience God’s saving power?
Do you rejoice in God’s love of all?

spirit resting
upon us
a child
to guide us

we see
we hear
what prophets
longed to behold

His love for all—
a justice
that flourishes
into peace

spirit of wisdom
and understanding
spirit of counsel
and strength

we stand in awe
as wolf and lamb,
lion and calf,
lie down together—
and no ruin comes

the cries
of the poor
are heard
and healed

a shoot rises
from the stump of Jesse
a bud
a blossom
opening in us

we rejoice

Do you see?
Do you hear?
Do you rejoice?

a faith
that asks-
a faith
that listens-
a faith
that believes

in God’s goodness
welcomes
God’s word
and we follow
rejoicing
in our return
to the One
who shelters us
heals us
and brings us
peace
praying
for our good
and the good of others
we live
in the Light
of God’s love

What do you believe?
What healing word do you hear?

now is the hour
we wake
from sleep
to rejoice
and cast off
deeds of darkness–
to beat our swords
into plowshares
and pruning hooks–
for we
shall go
to the house
of the Lord
where peace
shall be with us–
quarreling
lusting
and jealousy
leave us
as we put on
the light
of Christ
and become
radiant
with love

Are you ready for peace and light and love?
Are you willing to shed your weapons?
Are you awake and watchful for the Lord?

the dreams
and visions of terror
in the night
give way
to blessing
and hope
as the one
who comes to save
appears
in our hearts
and mind
giving warning
to not become
drowsy
from anxieties
distractions
or drunkenness
but be vigilant
at all times
in prayer
that you not be
overcome
by tribulations
but always aware
of what God offers
in love
secure in Christ’s peace
and His will for your good

Has your heart been overcome by anxiety and distraction from goodness?
Where do you turn for peace of mind and heart?

terrors come
and terrors go
countries come
and countries go
yet God
coming in Glory
and Love
shall not pass away
Spirit of the living God
blessed by
mountains and hills
the growing earth
and springs
the seas and river
dolphins and water creatures
birds of the air
beasts wild and tame
shall renew us
as buds burst open
in early spring
in ways beyond our imagining
we live
in this peace
and hope

A Prayer 

Philippians 4:6-9

Do not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation,
by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus
Finally, brothers and sisters,
whatever is true,
whatever is noble,
whatever is right,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is admirable—
if anything is excellent
or praiseworthy—
think about such things…
and give thanks.

and persevere

in our given faith
enduring to the end
as all that is true
blesses God
sun and moon
stars of heaven
every shower and dew
all the winds
fire and heat
cold and chill
give glory
and praise
to God
