Kings 5: 14-17; Ps 98: 1-4; 2 Timothy 2: 8-13; Luke 17: 11-19

listening
to God’s word
and dipping into
God’s flowing waters
we are healed-
seeing ourselves
cleansed
we return
in thanks
blessed with faith
we hold onto
new life
from death
eager for
peace
and the saving power
of love
a song of joy
and praise
breaks
from our lips
at the sight
of justice
revealed
kindness
and faithfulness
remembered

Do you let Him heal your wounds?
Are you grateful for His healing words?
Do you recognize God’s justice as love for all?

JL 4:12-21; Psalm 97:1-12; Luke 11:27-28

in the valley
of decision
we hear
the voice
of God
and follow
we are glad
in it
and give thanks
for darkness
and clouds
may be
all around
but His Light
dawns
in the justice of God’s love
upon all

Are you in a valley of decision?
What do you hear?

Joel 1:13-15-2:1-2; Psalm 9:2-3,6,8,9; Luke 11:15-26

a kingdom
divided
will not stand
so we live
in the undivided heart
singular
in our devotion
to the One
who brings us
Truth
Goodness
and Love
giving thanks
each moment
for the protection
God brings
from our doubts
and conflicts
temptation
and fear
with one sweeping gesture
His Light
of clarity
dawns
and we are free

Do you live with an undivided heart? Do you love your enemies?

Luke 11:5-14

asking
we receive
seeking
we find
all that we need
from God’s Holy Spirit
given
freely
for our benefit
and the good
of all
persistent
in prayer
we see
a way
for peace
and love
healing
and forgiveness
in a desperate
world

Do you ask?
Do you seek?
Do you find?

Luke 11:1-4

each day
given
our daily bread
as word
of the Spirit
guiding us
contrary to ways
that separate us
from God
drawing
heaven to earth
with each breath
we speak
each word
with reverence
and thanks
and ask forgiveness
for our forgetting
and embrace
remembrance

Do you breathe heaven to earth through God’s word?

A Prayer for Conversion
Jonah 3:1-10; Psalm 130:1-8; Luke 10:38-42

called
to change our minds
and hearts
we sit
at the feet
of Truth
and Wisdom
leaving
our anxiety
and worry
to hear
the voice
of Love
answering
our cry
for help
with words
that bring
Hope
new Life
and Peace

Are you willing to change?
Do you dare leave your anxiety and worry?
Do you sit at the feet of Wisdom and Truth?

Jonah 1:1-2:2, 11; John 2:3-5,8; Luke 10:25-37

called
to speak
we run
from His words
wreaking havoc
on all those around us
until left
in darkness
we cry out
and are heard
prophetic words
are spoken
prophetic deeds
are done
we are filled
with compassion
helping those in need
opening the door
to God’s light
and love

Do you run from your calling?
Who answers when you cry out for help?

Habakkuk 1:2-4; Ps: 1-2,6-7, 8-9; 2Timothy 1:6-14; Luke 17: 5-10
A prayer for courage and strength

increase our faith
as violence presses
around us
we feel your absence
in raging wars
let us hear your voice
that our hearts may
not be hardened
stir the flame
that is You in us
for You did not give
a spirit of cowardice
but strength
and love
and wisdom
that may bear
the hardship
of war, violence and evil
not stealing
your peace
and spirit of love
but doing the work
that needs
to be done
for the vision
still has its time
pressing on
to fulfillment

Can you wait in faith for God’s fulfillment?
What strength and courage has God given you?

Peace Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

How are you a channel of God’s peace?

Bar 1:15-22; Psalm 79:1-9; Luke 10:13-16

turning
from God’s way
of Truth
seeking love
and power
in all the wrong places
we leave a trail
of destruction
and our lives
become disordered
until we hear
a voice calling us back to life
to see God’s way
of truth
of light
of love

His cross
a path
leading us home

What do you see in His cross?
How does it lead you back to life?
